Georgie: A Community Portrait

The Communications Committee is starting a series of community portraits, with the aim to build connections across our growing community of Old Mainers, Young Mainers, New Mainers and anyone else residing in the Mid-Coast area of Maine.
The second portrait is of Georgie. Please leave a reaction to the story, say hi, ask a question, share your favorit food, or anything in between.
Georgie
Georgie was introduced to the New Mainer community through her son, who one day came home to tell her “I have a new best friend: He doesn’t speak English and runs faster than me”. Since then she’s become an integral part of the family mentor network and brings her organizational skills and background in education to the growing community of mentor families and New Mainers in Brunswick/Bath area.
Georgie’s favorite month is July – ever since young, she spent summers with her family on an island off the coast of Maine. These days, the month of July is a lot more hectic for Georgie and her family, but it’s a really special time to make memories with friends and family – the island is still her favorit place in Maine.
When asked if she had any thoughts to share with Freeport residents who, for the first time, are hosting a large group of New Mainers she talked about how she’s so inspired by the hope and resilience she sees in the New Mainer community. She also appreciates the culture and traditions they bring with them, adding much needed diversity to Mid-coast Maine. Georgie’s favorit food is tacos with homemade tortillas.
