Drivers’ Ed: Meeting A Community Need

Last fall, MCNMG launched a scholarship program to address a specific need in the immigrant community: the need to be legally licensed with a thorough understanding of the rules of the road. The scholarship provides 80% of the cost of driver’s ed which currently runs between $500-550.

The response has been very gratifying- we have received about two dozen inquiries and have funded eight drivers who are in various stages of completing their instruction or who are ready to take their driving exam. Some people have opted to take the full course of classroom instruction and supervised driving; others who already have their permits opt for hourly sessions of supervised driving with a driving instructor.

One of our scholarship recipients recently passed her driving exam- congratulations Wewe!!
